Chimney Repair.

Some of the most common signs your chimney needs repair work might include:

  • The chimney appears to lean, tilt, or is otherwise not properly standing
  • There are spaces between the chimney and the roof – many homeowners fill these with caulk or a foam product, but this is a stop-gap method that will only last so long, despite what the products claim
  • Damage to the flashing near the chimney
  • Standing water next to the chimney
  • Cracks in the foundation of the chimney

In many cases, even here in Oregon, chimneys are installed without crickets. A chimney cricket, sometime called a saddle, is a small addition to the chimney which diverts rainwater away from it. Even if your chimney extends out of a diagonal area of roof, water can still build up behind the chimeny, potentially leading to leaks.
